In my lifetime, gun violence has sadly changed the American classroom. I was in third grade when the terrible shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School happened. This event became a defining trauma for my generation. For too long, we have been stuck in a dangerous situation where real solutions are delayed, and meaningful change feels forever out of reach. This inaction represents a serious failure to protect the next generation.

Children and teachers are dying in places that should be safe for learning. This deadly reality comes from a complicated mix of easy access to guns, a lack of safety and first aid training, and a failure to notice important warning signs from troubled individuals.

My goal is to break this deadlock by hosting a thorough and fair exploration of this crisis. I aim to:

Frame the main question: What solution should be proposed?

Amplify voices from the classroom: Hear directly from teachers and students about their daily experiences and emotions.

Explore the political divide: Present arguments from both sides regarding the Second Amendment, activism, and beliefs.

Engage key advocacy groups: Feature organizations like CCDL and Sandy Hook Promise to understand their proposed solutions.

Involve policymakers: Document the steps politicians are taking in legislation and education.

Honor the victims and their families: Share the powerful advocacy and vision for change held by parents of victims.

We must refuse to accept this violence as normal. The time for indifference is over. Words alone are not enough; we demand immediate and clear action to stop this crisis, and we need it now. This conversation is the essential first step.
